Affordable Legal Help Without Full Representation
Many people face legal problems but cannot afford—or do not need—traditional full-service representation. Limited-scope representation allows you to hire an attorney for specific tasks while remaining in control of your case.
With Victor Moxley Legal, most services are provided on a limited-scope basis. This means you receive professional legal advice, strategy, and document preparation tailored to your situation, but you continue to represent yourself unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.
This approach can provide meaningful legal assistance at a significantly lower cost than traditional litigation representation.
Important: Hiring an attorney for limited-scope representation does not mean the attorney is handling your entire case. Unless a written agreement states otherwise, you remain responsible for filing documents, meeting court deadlines, attending hearings, and managing your case.
How Limited-Scope Representation Works
Rather than hiring an attorney to handle every aspect of a case, you hire an attorney to help with specific tasks, such as:
- Reviewing your situation and explaining your legal options
- Developing a strategy for responding to a legal dispute
- Reviewing documents, notices, or court papers
- Preparing letters, notices, motions, pleadings, or other legal documents
- Helping you organize evidence and prepare for hearings
- Explaining court procedures and what to expect
You remain responsible for making decisions, filing documents, attending hearings, communicating with the court, and managing your case unless otherwise agreed in writing.

What Limited-Scope Representation Does Not Include
Unless specifically agreed to in writing, limited-scope representation does not include:
- Court appearances
- Trial representation
- Mediation representation
- Becoming an attorney of record in your case
- Accepting service on your behalf
- Managing all aspects of ongoing litigation
- Communicating directly with opposing parties on your behalf
- Representing you in matters outside Utah
If you need full-service representation, I may be able to refer you to another attorney whose practice is better suited to your needs.
Is Limited-Scope Representation Right for You?
Limited-scope representation may be a good fit if:
- You intend to represent yourself
- You want professional legal guidance before taking action
- You need help preparing documents
- You have a specific legal question rather than ongoing litigation needs
- You want legal assistance while keeping costs predictable
Many clients find that a consultation, document review, or professionally drafted filing provides the guidance they need to move forward with confidence.
